Where do I go if I need technical support?

Computer networking is a complicated subject so we do our very best to make sure we help you every step of the way if you need it. So if you encounter any technical challenges whilst using your Netduma R1, you can use:

This will answer almost all technical questions you may have.

If you have a brief question you can also ask us on Twitter. However all questions on our forum are responded to very quickly so we recommend you go there instead.

Is the Netduma compatible with every game?

The Netduma is compatible with every game, however the Geo-filter and Deny & Allow features are only useful if the game you are playing has a matchmaking system that decides the host you connect to. This is true for virtually all console games and some PC games. There are many PC games though, like LoL and DOTA 2, that have servers a player selects to play on, In these games, the Geo-filter would not be effective.

Here is a table of currently supported games:

Game(s) Platform(s) Notes
CoD AW, Ghosts, BOP 2, MW2, other CoD Xb1, Xbox 360, PS4, PS3, PC For PC, select your PC device on your Geo-filter and then select ‘Xbox Live PA’
FIFA 15, FIFA 14 Xb1, Xbox 360, PS4, PS3
Destiny Xb1, PS4
Halo MCC Xb1
Battlefield 4 Xb1, PS4
GTA 4 and 5, Red Dead Redemption, Max Payne 3 Xb1, Xbox 360, PS4, PS3 If you’re not host you can occasionally get disconnected from the game.
Halo 3 xb360
Mario Kart 8 Wii-U
Smash Bros Wii-U
Mortal Kombat X Xb1, PS4
CS:GO PC Works for casual, server search. Competitive servers are clustered in the same location so may not be as useful but some people have mentioned they like the ability to force certain clusters e.g. EU West over EU East.

There are many other games that the Geo-filter will already work with but may not have been tested yet. It is very easy for us to add additional games so if you have a game you would like us to support, please let us know on our forum here.

Our standard ping feature should work for any game or service. The advanced ping stats, which includes jitter, packet loss, tick rate etc only works for the following games:

  • CS:GO
  • Dota 2
  • LoL
  • Insurgency
  • Team Fortress

All other features, such as Anti-flood and Device Prioritisation, will work with every game and any device.

Can I just buy the software instead of an entirely new router?

Installing router software is very challenging and there is a very high chance of breaking your existing router if you attempted to do this with Netduma’s software. For this reason we sell a combined product, with Netduma’s software combined with high performing hardware.

What do I need to use the VPN features?

The Netduma’s One-click VPN and VPN-Hybrid features make it as simple as possible to connect to VPN servers. This is a great way to mask your IP address on any device, meaning your connection cannot be taken hostage by a DDoS attacker.

To use these features, you will need a VPN service provider. Typically these will cost you between $5-$15 a month. Your VPN provider needs to be an ‘OpenVPN’ provider (almost all are). We recommend you seek a high quality VPN provider that has servers located near your home to ensure there is minimal increase in ping.

Applying a VPN does NOT stop a DDoS attack if an attacker has your IP, but if a VPN is used correctly, an attacker cannot get your home’s IP address, meaning you are protected. If your VPN IP is obtained and you are DDoSed, most VPN servers will go down and require you to reconnect. A 30 second procedure. Some companies provide fully anti-DDoS VPNs but they typically cost more, approximately $75 a month. Netduma does not currently provide a VPN service.
